Floyd Mayweather Jr Is Back And On Top

After easily beating Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19, 2009 one can say that Floyd is back with a vengeance. After leaving the sport of boxing in 2007, he decided to come back in 2009 to claim what is rightfully his. Media and journalists have made speculation that Floyd came back for financial reasons, but whatever the case may be the truth of the matter is boxing was getting boring and it was lacking entertainment.

  2. I personally believe it was for the money and the overall aspect of boxing. If you look at the sport since Mayweather left the numbers went down and the hard core audience was paying attention to MMA. It was some boxers such as Pacquiao, Cotto and Sugar Shane Mosley, but it wasn't the same when Mayweather left. Now that he is back I think it help him financially and most important it help the sport of boxing.

  3. The sport has been in a slump. What more can be done to bring the sport back to prominence?

  4. Your right because boxing is not as popular as it was back when there was more relevant boxers in all divisions. Now it's hard to find a prominent boxer such as Floyd Mayweather Jr, so when you have such a boxer with a strong caliber like Mayweather you have to do whatever you can to keep him. Boxing is slowly arising again if you look at some of today boxers such as Mosley, Pacquiao and Cotto it can make a comeback in due time.

  5. Eric i do agree with Dr. Paul, its just that Boxing is not a seasonal sport such as the NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS boxing is a sport that people watch when their is only a main event..the reason being because first it costs a lot to watch PPV second boxing events happen once every 6-8 months a year...and not a lot of fun to watch every week like the NFL or NBA.

  6. I never mention Boxing being in the same light as the NFL,NBA or MLB. The point that I made was Floyd Mayweather Jr is back and on top of his game.
